Premier League fixtures announced: Who will lay down an early marker?

The 2026/27 Premier League fixtures were released today, with clubs such as champions Arsenal and promoted sides Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City finding out their opponents for the opening day and beyond.

Here is a list of opening weekend fixtures:

Arsenal v Coventry - Friday August 21, 8pm

Hull City v Manchester United - Saturday August 22, 12:30pm

Ipswich v Sunderland - Saturday August 22, 3pm

Nottingham Forest v Leeds United - Saturday August 22, 3pm

Brentford v Tottenham Hotspur - Saturday August 22, 5:30pm

Brighton v Aston Villa - Sunday August 23, 2pm

Manchester City v Bournemouth - Sunday August 23, 2pm

Newcastle United v Liverpool - Sunday August 23, 4:30pm

Fulham v Chelsea - Monday August 24, 8pm

The pick of the ties on the first weekend is undoubtedly the clash of the Champions - Premier League winners Arsenal v Championship winners Coventry City - at the Emirates on Friday night to kick-start the season.

Another intriguing matchup sees Championship playoff winners Hull City, who could start the Premier League season with a points deduction, welcome Michael Carrick's Manchester United to the MKM Stadium. It will be an exciting occasion in East Yorkshire.

Two new managers will face off at the Etihad, as Manchester City start the season without Pep Guardiola at the helm for the first time in a decade. Enzo Maresca looks set to join City, and they welcome Marco Rose's Bournemouth on the Sunday afternoon.

The prime-time Sunday 4:30pm fixture sees the always-exciting Newcastle v Liverpool clash, at St James' Park, which will be particularly intriguing this year given that Liverpool, under new manager Andoni Iraola, are set to beat Newcastle to the signing of Real Madrid winger Victor Munoz, despite Newcastle having agreed terms with the Spaniard.

The Monday night fixture sees a West London Derby as Fulham, managerless at the time of writing but with a new man at the helm by the start of the season, welcome local rivals Chelsea to Craven Cottage, who will have Xabi Alonso in the dugout for the first time.

A total of six teams will have new managers: Ipswich Town, Manchester City, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Fulham and Chelsea and all of them will be looking to get off to the best possible start.
